A Humble Beginning
Born in Burma with roots in the cultural heritage of Tanjore, Dr. Manivannan’s early years were marked by challenges. His educational journey began at a government boys’ high school, followed by life in a Christian hostel—a testament to his adaptability and determination. He pursued his higher studies at Thiyagarajar Government College in Chennai, earning a B.Com degree, and later obtained an M.A. and a Doctorate in Literature (D.Lit.) from the USA. Yet, amidst all his academic and business successes, he felt a void—a calling to give back to society through education.
The Birth of a Dream
In 1992, driven by a vision to provide quality education to every child, irrespective of their background, Dr. Manivannan laid the foundation for Vivekananda Matriculation Higher Secondary School. What began with just 25 students and two teachers has grown into a vibrant educational institution that nurtures over 1,250 students today. His dream was simple yet profound: to create a safe, nurturing environment where learning is not just about books but about building character, fostering self-confidence, and igniting a passion for lifelong learning.
A Legacy of Service and Excellence
Education, for Dr. Manivannan, is more than academic achievements—it’s a tool for societal transformation. Under his leadership, the school has conducted numerous community service programs, including medical camps, eye camps, and blood donation drives. During the COVID-19 pandemic, while uncertainty gripped the world, his team provided daily meals to those in need, embodying the school’s ethos of “Love and Serve.”

Dr. Manivannan’s contributions to education have earned him prestigious accolades, including a Doctorate for his invaluable service to society. He was honored with the Lifetime Achievement in Education Leadership Award by Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi and received recognition from former Governor Mr. Konijeti Rosaiah for his extraordinary contributions to Indian education.
